Sky Poker releases your bonus £10 at a time

With the bonus released £10 at a time, Sky Poker customers will need to plan wisely to get the highest amount of free cash possible. Some may see this as a drawback, but getting £10 at a time can also make the bonus feel easier to process and less overwhelming. However, keep in mind that you’ll need to earn 250 points to release £10 and the points vary depending on what you are playing. For instance in Cash Poker, you get six Poker Points for every £1 you contribute in cash rake . In Sit & Go's and tournaments, you'll earn 10 Poker Points for every £1 paid in entrance fees. You'll need to play a lot of games in a short space of time if you want to hit the £500 bonus.

It’s important to remember that even though you may be a new customer of Sky Poker, if you already have a Sky Vegas, Sky Bet, Sky Bingo or Sky Casino account, you are considered to be existing customers of Sky Betting & Gaming and will not be eligible for the bonus. If that's the case for you then why not check out the bonuses on offer at PartyPoker, PokerStars or any of the other poker rooms in our Poker Bonus Comparison.

Sky Poker gives you 30 days to use bonus cash

The £10 free tournament tokens are given as four separate tokens - 2 x £2.20 and 2 x £3.30 to be used on multi-table tournaments only. They can be combined to go into a higher tournament though.

For the 200% first deposit bonus, to get the maximum amount of £500 you would need to put £250 or more into your account when you open it and then earn 12,500 poker points in the promotional period of 30 days. If you open your account with Moneybookers or Neteller, then you're not eligible. If you played tournaments and earned 10 poker points for every £1 in registration fees, you would need to play hundreds of games to qualify. This may be disappointing for those players hoping to play through the bonus quickly. However, most online poker companies have similar clauses to make you pay money to be release the bonus. Nevertheless, there are some providers that give you free money to play with. PokerStars, for example, gives new members £10 of free play with no deposit needed. Read more about the PokerStars bonus in our PokerStars bonus review.

The Sky Poker promotion comes in three parts and we feel that many players will get the most benefit out of the free tokens and free Poker Points. Earning the 200% bonus is good for experienced players or those who can dedicate a lot of time to the game in the first 30 days. You need to make sure the Sky Poker bonus code POKER is in the free offers and promotions box while you are filling in the registration form to get your £10 tokens plus the 200% deposit match bonus.

Tokens and bonus cannot be withdrawn

Neither the tournament tokens nor the first deposit bonus can be withdrawn, so these can just be used as free bets. You have to play through the bonus amount once before it can be withdrawn.

You can make deposits or withdrawals using Visa Debit, Maestro, Visa Electron or Laser debit cards; MasterCard or Visa credit cards, on through an online service such as PayPal. You can register up to three debit or credit cards and one of each online payment service. Sky Poker does not charge for any of these payment methods. Withdrawals need to be made using the same cards for a minimum amount of £10, which will take two to five working days through the bank or is usually the same day for online payments. There's no charge for this either.

Remember, if you open your account with Moneybookers or Neteller, you will not be eligible for the 200% first deposit bonus. If you plan on claiming this Sky Poker bonus offer, you will have to open your account with one of the payment methods that qualify. If you're after a bigger selection of payment methods, we suggest you check out William Hill poker, who are likely to have your favourite!

Conclusion & Short Review

Sky Poker offerings

Sky Poker offers thrilling tournaments with top jackpots and cash games 24/7. There really is something for everyone with the different games available. Tournaments include Bounty Hunter (where you can win 75% of a player’s bounty if you are able to eliminate them), Deepstack (where you get extra starting chips), Freezeout (where eliminated players aren’t able to re-enter the tournament), Rebuy & Add On (where you can buy back in after getting eliminated), and Sky Head Hunter (where there’s no prize pool, but you battle for bounties). When it comes to cash games, Sky Poker offers all the classics to satisfy any die-hard poker player. Play Texas Hold’em, Omaha and Omaha Hi-Lo, as well as free poker games to work on your game. Sky Poker uses its own technology so the games are unique to them. There's super attention-to-detail with the features for each game such as choosing your seat along with tiling and auto-focus for playing various tables.

Customer service

Sky Poker is dedicated to providing its members with quality customer service features. One of our personal favourites is found in the top right-hand corner of the Sky Poker web page. Click on the “Boss?! Look busy!!” link, and you’ll be quickly redirected to a spreadsheet that would fool anyone passing by your desk. Next to the “Boss” link, you’ll find a link that takes you to their Help & Support Centre. Here, you’ll find a comprehensive list of FAQs, organised in a highly intuitive manner. If you’re looking to call, chat, or email Sky Poker, scroll to the bottom and select the topic of your query to be connected with the appropriate Sky Poker customer service department. We found their Live Chat to be very quick and very helpful. The only improvement we could think of is including a link that takes you straight to the Live Chat on the Sky Poker home page. If you prefer to call Sky Poker directly, you can phone 0330 024 4777 between 8am to midnight every day. Finally, players who earn 10,000+ Poker Points in a month, will get Priority status with direct access to the Enhanced Service Team for a more personal touch.

Security and licensing

Sky Poker is licensed and regulated by the Gambling Commission for UK customers and the Alderney Gambling Control Commission for all other customers. This means it adheres to strict regulations regarding security and where customers' funds are stored. It is also GamCare accredited meaning it is a socially responsible gambling operator. It also has the Comodo SSL certificate to protect customer transactions and is a VeriSign secure site.

Tips on playing different poker games

In the interest of guaranteeing all members of the YouRate community an enjoyable and lucrative experience with online poker, we’ve developed a list of some tips on how to play the different games available on Sky Poker. We hope that it helps!

Texas Hold 'Em: The idea is to get a better five-card combination than the other players, such as a straight flush - five cards of the same suit in sequential ranking or four of a kind - four 10s for example. In Texas Hold'em each player is dealt two cards face down. Players can look at their own cards and then decide whether to:
  • Fold: Pass so you don't put any money in the pot and you're out.
  • Call: Match the last bet to stay in.
  • Bet: Increase the size of the bet. You need to bet at least double the size of the 'big blind' (forced bet played by the player two places to the left from the dealer).
  • Raise: Increase the bet by a minimum of the difference between the big blind and the first bet.
  • Check: If the action comes around to you in the big blind and nobody has bet, you can decide to check because you've already put in the chips needed to enter the hand before it started.
Pot Limit Omaha or PLO

This is a popular variation of Texas Hold'em but you are dealt four cards face down at the start instead of two. But you have to use exactly three cards on the board with two of your hole or starting cards to create the best five-card hand possible. You can't hang on to your four starting cards. Omaha Poker is more challenging than Texas Hold'em as you have two create a strong five-card hand with your two hole cards and three community cards. Study your starting hand carefully and think of the various combinations possible. If you have a pair of Aces in your starting four, hang on to them!

Omaha Hi Lo

Again, you are dealt four cards initially but with Hi Lo players have to make a separate five-card high hand and another five-card low hand. The low hand needs to be eight or lower. You can use the same cards in your high and low hands. The aim is to scoop the pot. Good tips are to rarely raise before the flop and to learn to calculate the pot odds.

We want to hear from you!
